2. The short version
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
- Fonts and images are served from our own hosting; visiting the site sends no data to third parties such as Google.
- We only process personal data when you write to us or request a report.
3. Hosting and server logs
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data – in particular your IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser type and operating system – to deliver the site and protect it against attacks.
For visitors from the EU/EEA or UK, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in running the site securely and reliably). Cloudflare acts as our processor.
4. Contacting us and requesting a report
The request form on this website does not store or send anything itself. It opens your email app with a prepared message, which you send yourself. When you write to us, we process your email address, your platform username, your preferred report language and your message in order to answer you and to create and send your report.
For visitors from the EU/EEA or UK, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the service you asked for). Our email is handled by Proton Mail (Proton AG, Route de la Galaise 32, 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland).
5. How your report is made
To create your report we download your publicly available games through chess.com's public interface (moves, date, time control, result, ratings, clock times, and your opponents' usernames and ratings as they appear in the games). We evaluate the positions with the chess engine Stockfish on our own computers and calculate statistics from them. No automated decisions with legal or similar effects are made about you.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your request, game data and report as long as needed to create and send your report and to answer follow-up questions, Once your request is fully completed, your data is deleted, unless you have expressly agreed to further use or we are legally required to keep it for longer (for example under tax and commercial retention periods). We delete it earlier if you ask us to.
7. Puzzles on social media
For our chess puzzles on Instagram and TikTok we only use single positions from games with permission and always without names, usernames or dates. We never use a customer's games for puzzles without asking first.
8. Your rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict its use, receive a copy, or object to its use. Just send us an email.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, these rights follow from Art. 15–21 GDPR, and you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work (Art. 77 GDPR).
